A sexy little 5-fin, round tail number for big turns, steep drops and for weaving through barrels, this well balanced Chilli Fader surfboard promises to have you tearing up good waves at home and away.
I dig round tails, especially in good waves but I also prefer surfing a quad setup so when James Cheal of Chilli Surfboards launched this Chilli Fader with a 5-fin, round tail combo, I paid attention.
The “thumb” tail as Chilli calls it is meant to be the best of both worlds between a pin tail for bigger, better, more critical waves but not so tight that the Fader can’t be surfed in more average, smaller conditions.
Combine that tail with a modern rocker and medium rails and the Chilli Fader should be an accessible option for the everyday surfer on solid, quality waves at home or on surf trips to good wave havens such as Indonesia, Mexico and Central America.
Oh, a gripe as a bigger guy, can Chilli please make a standard board big enough to float me? A 6’6 at about 36/37L’s would be great!
