A global favourite for a lively ride when speed generation is key, the Futures Fins Blackstix range has been completely revamped, improved and expanded with better than ever Blackstix 3.0 surfboard fins.
What’s Changed
The famous speed generating ‘V2 foil’ (think the profile and dynamics of an airline wing) still features in the entire Futures Fins Blackstix 3.0 range [Shop Now…] and this is, in my opinion, still second to none for generating a great deal of speed in smaller, weaker, more average waves.
Combine the acceleration of the V2 foil with a stiffer base for increased drive and tips that have been reengineered to snap more predictably and precisely versus their predecessors and the Futures Fins bestsellers globally just got a whole lot better!

Original Futures Fins EA Blackstix Fin
The new Blackstix 3.0 fins seem to harness and release energy with greater efficiency and can be surfed with more power than ever before. The old EA Blackstix were great for generating speed when the waves were small and weak but they did feel a little bit too flexible and floppy (?) and lacked drive, especially when pushed hard. I remember spinning out a couple of times in smaller but more powerful surf when I was pushing hard through bottom turns to line up a wave.
The new Blackstix don’t have that problem. They still feel as fast and lively as ever but more solid under foot, lending confidence that they will hold in situations where the last version might have let you down.
Expanded Range
The new Futures Fins Blackstix 3.0 range now features six templates covering small, medium, and large size fins, which is great given the last version of the Blackstix were ‘one size fits all’.
My favourite addition are the large maroon ‘Blackstix F8’ thrusters, which have been designed specifically with the larger, more powerful surfer in mind.

Another huge improvement on the old Blackstix is the addition of complimenting trailer fins. I love my quads, especially in smaller surf and I always felt limited not having a matching rear quad option for my quad setup and 5-fin setup boards. The Blackstix 3.0 QD2 quad rear sets are available to match your small, medium and large 3-fin Futures Fins Blackstix 3.0 thruster sets.

Conclusion
Whether it’s perception or reality, most of us feel that we surf average, small to medium size waves the majority of the time. If you find yourself surfing smaller, more average conditions most of the time, you need a set of new Futures Blackstix 3.0 fins in your board!
