Few shapers matter as much to surfing as Matt Biolos and the iconic surfboard brand he founded, Lost Surfboards. Beyond simply maintaining an edge in performance surfboard design, Biolos, and by extension ...Lost, has been the trendsetter.
At a time when many (most) large surfboard manufacturers were wholly and solely focused on refining competition focused, potato chip thin high performance surfboards, Biolos recognised that not every surfer in the world was in the surfing game to win a competition. He could be credited with starting the movement towards shorter, fatter, wider performance hybrids. By endeavoring to create designs geared for fun by everyday surfers, he inspired a whole industry, which still has a some players bewildered and others running to play catch up.
From the original Lost Round Nose Fish, Lost Surfboards first blockbuster modern performance fish design, which was made popular in part by the seminal '5'5 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/2 Redux' movie to the nearly ubiquitous original Lost Rocket, Biolos and Lost cemented a stronghold on small, summer waves or indeed the average waves that most surfers have to surf, most of the time.
Yet, Biolos and Lost haven't lost sight of the advanced and competitive surfer. Lost Surfboards produce some of the most respected high performance models on the market today, which are ridden religiously by some of the best surfers on the planet. From Taj Burrow to Kolohe Andino, Chris Ward to Cory Lopez, Carissa Moore to Coco Ho - the diversity of Biolos' Lost Surfboards team is reflective of the diversity of Biolos' surfboard design and shaping talents.
Every surfer deserves to have a Lost Surfboard in his or her quiver.
